We work with Licensed Occupational therapists to offer the services as follows:
Occupational Therapy Assessments are comprehensive assessments conducted to evaluate an individual’s physical, cognitive, sensory, and psychosocial abilities, identifying areas of difficulty and determining appropriate interventions.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Training: Personalized training and support to individuals in performing activities of daily living. This may include assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility. The goal is to enhance independence and improve functional skills for self-care tasks.
Adaptive Equipment Recommendations: Assess individuals’ needs for assistive devices or adaptive equipment to improve independence and safety in daily activities. They provide recommendations for items such as grab bars, wheelchairs, shower chairs, or kitchen aids to enhance functionality and accessibility.
Environmental Modifications:Evaluate home or work environments to identify barriers and recommend modifications. They provide guidance on layout changes, installation of handrails, improvement of lighting, or removal of hazards to create safer and more accessible spaces.
Work Rehabilitation: Occupational therapists at Upendo Homecare assist individuals in returning to work or maintaining employment. They conduct work-related assessments, analyze job tasks, provide ergonomic recommendations, and offer vocational rehabilitation services to support successful employment outcomes.
Cognitive Rehabilitation: Occupational therapists work with individuals who have cognitive impairments, such as memory loss or difficulty with problem-solving. They provide personalized strategies, exercises, and interventions to improve cognitive skills and support effective management of daily activities.
Sensory Integration: Occupational therapists address sensory processing difficulties through sensory integration therapy. They help individuals improve sensory integration and processing, leading to better self-regulation and increased participation in daily activities.
Education and Training: Provide education and training to individuals and their families. They offer guidance, techniques, and resources to promote independence, safety, and optimal functioning. This may include training in energy conservation, joint protection, and adaptive techniques.
Home Safety Assessments: Assessments to identify potential risks and hazards. They provide recommendations to minimize risks and prevent falls, such as installing grab bars, removing clutter, or improving lighting for enhanced safety.
Community Integration: Support individuals in participating in social, recreational, and community activities. They help individuals develop skills and strategies to engage in meaningful occupations outside the home, promoting community integration and enhanced quality of life.
